Everything Yoga Without the Mat

You are invited to join us for Everything Yoga Without the Mat, a six-week virtual class led by Yoga for Eating Disorders Instructor Abbey Morris that takes place off of the mat and explores how philosophical teachings of yoga and other contemplative practices can be applied to recovery.

There is so much more than just the movement practice of Yoga that can benefit us in our recoveries and lives. And for some people, “doing” yoga on a mat may not always feel the safest or most inviting, and that is ok! This program will introduce you to other ways to connect with yoga in your life.

Each session will include a mindfulness practice, teaching about an aspect of yoga, discussion, and personal reflection. A pdf course booklet will be provided to guide your reflection and expand your learning. Also includes bonus practices and check ins throughout the week.

This special class series will meet on Zoom on Wednesdays at 7:30 PM to 9 PM EST on February 15 through March 22. You are welcome to join the live class or follow along with the recordings (Note: Only the teacher will be recorded, not the participants). You are welcome to practice with your camera on or off.

These classes are taught from a trauma informed, eating disorder informed, and mental health informed perspective and are accessible for all bodies. All are welcome. No prior yoga or meditation experience required.

Here’s What People Are Saying About Abbey’s Classes

"I really connected with 'Everything Yoga Without the Mat' because Abbey has truly walked peaks and valleys of recovery/life and I felt she was right alongside us. Abbey’s gentle and wise guidance was very supportive and uplifting, and she was a great model for where vulnerability and courage can lead. Thanks so much Abbey for sharing your light!" —Shari V., Canada

“Abbey's generous wisdom and enthusiasm for helping others nurtures growth. I enjoyed the coursebook Abbey supplied and the practices in it, her energy, Yoga Nidra, and the walking meditation.” -Ingrid Fedge, Colorado

“I had a really positive experience with Abbey’s program. I was able to gain some new perspectives on how to approach recovery, self-compassion, and how to connect with my whole self. I like the combination of doing some sort of practice at the beginning of the session to get into the mindset and topic before having a discussion to connect with others. I really enjoyed being able to hear what others found insightful or got out of the readings and practices because it allowed me to get more out of the program and opened me up to other perspectives. I liked all of the practices and found something to take away from them all, but the art practice was my favorite. I have tried expressing myself through art before but something about that practice helped things click. I also liked the walking practice because I can take it to use out in the world.” -Allison L
